LASIK Surgery

A Long-Term Solution for Clear Vision

Keeping your world in focus is our top priority, but there are many factors to consider when deciding which vision plan is best for you. We consider your eye health, goals, lifestyle and budget when determining whether LASIK is the best solution for you. LASIK is a long-term, vision-correcting option with little to no ongoing post-surgery expense. This safe and effective procedure enables you to ditch cumbersome and costly glasses that will save you money in the long run. It is the perfect solution for someone with an active lifestyle, allowing you to enjoy a clear view of the world in everything you do.

What is LASIK?

Laser-assisted in situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) is designed to correct common vision problems with the most technologically advanced form of laser vision correction. LASIK can correct near-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.

There are two primary steps when performing a successful LASIK procedure. A superficial flap is created on the cornea which is subsequently lifted. Once lifted, an excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea beneath its surface in the bed of the flap. The flap is then repositioned to its original place leaving minimal scarring once the flap has healed in place. The procedure takes around 10 minutes to perform.

LASIK Recovery

LASIK recovery is generally quick and easy. Approximately 99% of patients are able to return to work and normal activities by the following morning. Functional return of vision typically takes only a few hours and both eyes are treated on the same day. No stitches or eye patches are required. Eye drops are used for one week following the procedure.

LASIK FAQs

Am I a good candidate for LASIK? Candidacy depends on several factors including age (18+), prescription stability, corneal thickness, and overall eye health.

Is LASIK safe? LASIK is an exceptionally safe procedure. However, it is surgery and there are risks. Serious sight-threatening complications occur in less than 1% of cases.

How effective is LASIK? LASIK is highly effective, with a high percentage of patients achieving 20/20 vision or better.

What are the potential side effects? Common side effects include dry eyes, light sensitivity, halos or glare can affect a small percentage of patients. These are generally temporary and resolve with time and additional treatment.

How long does recovery take? Most patients return to normal activities within 24-48 hours, with vision stabilizing over several weeks.

Will I need reading glasses after LASIK? LASIK doesn’t prevent age-related presbyopia. Reading glasses may be needed around age 40-45.

How much does LASIK cost? Our price for LASIK begins at $2250 per eye. We will provide you with a cost estimate specific to your recommended procedure.

Are there other vision correction procedures I should consider? Absolutely! Today’s advancements in both lasers and lenses, such as ICL, PRK, and refractive lens exchange, mean more people can take advantage of vision correction procedures. During your consultation, we will discuss your options and make recommendations for the procedures that can help you achieve your vision goals.
